How to Make Your Daily Brushing Routine More Natural

How to Make Your Daily Brushing Routine More NaturalIn a perfect world, everyone would learn how to properly care for their teeth when they were little. That way, they would have a healthy routine that would continue into adulthood. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many people.

For some, brushing was not all that important when they were little, so they never got into the habit of brushing without thinking about it. Bad habits can be hard to break, but not impossible. Here are some tips on making your daily brushing routine more natural.

Time
It can be hard to know how long to brush your teeth for. Most people do not brush long enough. We recommend that you brush for at least two minutes. That can be hard to judge, so use the timer function on your cell phone. If you do not have it with you, hum the "Happy Birthday" song repeatedly while your brush. That takes about 15 seconds, so you will need to hum it eight times. Make sure that you brush all of your teeth, and do not forget your tongue and your gums.

Toothbrushes

The right toothbrush can make all the difference when trying to get into a more natural routine. If you have a toothbrush that hurts your mouth, you are not going to want to use it. We recommend that you buy a soft bristled brush, and replace it often. Brushing your teeth should not hurt.

If you truly make an effort, your daily brushing routine will eventually become more natural. It will not take long until you realize that your teeth are cleaner, and your breath smells better. Making the effort is worth it. The other thing that needs to become routine is your dental visits. We need to see you on a regular schedule so that your mouth will stay healthy.
